Ranakpur Attractions - Tourist Places To Visit In Ranakpur

Ranakpur Jain Temple is counted among the five important pilgrimage sites of the Jains. Located on the western side of the Aravalli Range, the temple is dedicated to Lord Adinathji. It being made up of light coloured marble looks very beautiful.

According to legends, a Jain businessman named Seth Dharna Sah and Mewar Ruler Rana Khumba constructed this temple. The main temple complex of Chamukha comprises other Jain Temples as well. The basement area of the temple covers 48,000 sq ft. The architectural excellence of the artisans of that era is depicted in its 80 domes, 29 halls and 1,444 pillars.

The highlighting feature of the pillars is that each of them is unique. The carvings on the pillars are different from one another. The temples of Parasvanath and Neminath face the main temple. Visitors can see the beautiful carvings on these temples which would remind them of the sculptures of Khajuraho.

Muchhal Mahavir Temple is dedicated to Lord Mahavir and is located in the Pali District of the Rajasthan state. The temple is located in the Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary, which is about 5 km away from Ghanerao. This temple is known for the statue of the Hindu Lord Shiva with a moustache.

At the entrance of the temple two statues of the elephants can be seen that stand in the guarding position. Garasia tribal villages are the nearby attractions of this place. Tourists can buy beautiful traditional costumes from this place.  

Sun Temple, also known as Surya Narayan Temple, is situated in proximity to the Ranakpur Jain Temple. The warriors, horses and celestial bodies carved on the polygonal wall of the temple represent the artistic excellence of the people of the bygone era.

Lord Sun is shown riding his chariot in this temple. Devotees in large numbers from all around the country visit this temple to seek the blessings of Lord Sun. Devotees can also visit the temple of Amba Mata, which is situated close to the temple of the Sun God.  

Sadri is counted among the important pilgrimage centres of the Pali District of Rajasthan. Earlier, this city was also called the ‘Gate of Mewar to Marwar’. The place holds immense religious significance for the Jain community.

For the visitors going to visit the Ranakpur Temple and Shri Parshuram Mahadev Mandir, this place serves as the base. In addition to the Varahavtar Temple and the Chintamani Parsvanath Temple, the old Dargah of Khudabaksh Baba is also a popular attraction of the place.  

Ghanerao is the village of many big and small Hindu temples. It is located in proximity to the famous town of Ranakpur and is therefore a popular tourist attraction. Muchhal Mahavir Temple and the Gajanand Temple are the two most popular temples out of the 11 Jain temples located in the region.

In the Gajanand Temple, devotees can see the beautiful idols of Lord Ganesha and deities Riddhi and Siddhi. The idols of Lord Hanuman and Lord Bhairo Baba located on each side of the main idol are believed to be the guards of Lord Ganesha.

Narlai is a small village located in the Pali District of Rajasthan. The village rests on the foothill, 6 km away from the renowned town of Ranakpur. Travellers can find several Jain Temples and Hindu Temples in the region. Among the tourists, the murals and the architecture of the temple of the first Jain Tirthankara Lord Adinath is very popular.  

Desuri is a small village of the Pali District, located at a distance of 25 km from the town of Ranakpur. Temples of prominent Hindu deities like Lord Shiva, Navi Mata and Lord Hanuman are the highlights of this place. The temple of Parsuram Mahadeo is also located in the hills near Desuri.
