Pilani is a small town lying in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan. It is known for having a number of premier education institutions, the primary being BITS Pilani. The town is situated at a distance of 203 km from Delhi and 205 km away from the Rajasthan capital, Jaipur. The town comes under the administration of Jhunjhunu district, Rajasthan.
How Did Pilani Gain Its Name
According to the residents, the name of the town comes from the name of the famous Jat warrior, who belonged to the Pilania gotra. It is said that the warrior courageously fought and sacrificed his life to protect a fort in the town from invasion by enemies. In order to honour the sacrifice of the fighter, the ruler of the place named the town after him.
