Are you aware of this facility in which you can travel on another person's tickets? Yes! Indian Railways permits passengers to transfer their tickets to another person if they are not able to travel due to any reason.
This facility has been present for a long time, but people are still not aware of it. If you don't know how you can take advantage of this facility, we are here to make you understand.
If you have a confirmed ticket for Indian railways and due for some reason you are not able to travel then, of course, you can transfer it to another member of your family including your father, mother, brother, sister, son, and daughter, husband, and wife.
But to perform such an activity, a passenger has to request the transfer of tickets 24 hours before the time of departure. After you apply for the transfer, the existing passenger's name has been cut off from the list and the person who wants to travel on his/her confirmed ticket's name will be added, meaning the ticket now will be under the name of the person who will be traveling in place of the first person.
This facility is also available to NCC cadets or you can apply it online by uploading the necessary documents. Please note whenever you do the transfer in another person's name, you cannot change it further which means that the transfer has been allowed only once.

How to Transfer your confirmed Train Ticket in the name of another person?
1. Take a printout of your confirmed ticket.
2. Visit the reservation counter at any nearest railway station.
3. ID proof like Aadhar or Voting ID card will be required of the person in whose name the passenger wants to transfer his/her confirmed ticket
4. Apply for ticket transfer to the railway officer over the counter.
