For the first time in two years, since the COVID-19 pandemic, Guwahati's Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport will restart International flight services on 3rd September 2022.
Druk Air, which is Bhutan's national airline and the only international carrier operating flights to Guwahati, will recommence its services to Guwahati, which is the gateway to northeast India, providing International connectivity with Paro and Singapore from north-east India.
Bhutan recently unlocked its international borders to Travelers and now, Druk Air restarting flight services to and from Guwahati. Druk Air also connects Guwahati's Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport to Singapore's Changi International Airport.
Druk Air will operate its flight two days a week from Guwahati. The aircraft, which it is using is the Airbus-319 which has a capacity of 100 seats. Its first flight from Guwahati will be to Singapore's Changi International Airport since the pandemic.
Assam is in the queue to get connectivity with 5 more international destinations under India's international Udaan scheme. This will open the gates to more air connectivity with ASEAN countries from Northeast India.
including countries like Myanmar, Nepal, and Bangladesh, which are neighboring countries to India, the Government of Assam is working to operate five more international airways.
Currently, there are only two international airports in the northeast region of India, to provide services to 8 states including, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh. West Bengal is considered the next best way for most of the visitors from northeast India after Manipur and Assam.
