  • 01Mansa Devi Temple

    Mansa Devi Temple

    Mansa Devi Temple is situated in the Panchkula District of Haryana, which is approximately 19 km away from Mohali. Dedicated to Goddess Mansa Devi, this famous Hindu shrine is counted amongst the most prominent Shakti temples in northern India. The temple of the residing deity was constructed by Maharaja Gopal Singh of Mani Majra during 1811-1815.

    In 1840, another temple, called the Patiala Temple, was built at a distance of 200 m from the main temple by the then Maharaja Patiala, Karam Singh. Crowded by millions of devotees during the time of Navratras, this ancient temple is a must visit tourist spot near Mohali.

  • 02Sukhna Lake

    Sukhna Lake is a picturesque spot located at the foothills of the Shivalik range in the town of Chandigarh. Stretching to a length of 3 km, this manmade lake was created in the year 1958 by damming the Sukhna Choe Stream that flows down from the Shivalik Hills.

    The splendour of nature attracts hikers, photographers and painters towards the scenic beauty of this lake. A former venue for the Asian Rowing Championships, Sukhna Lake is renowned to have the longest channel for rowing and yachting on the continent.

    Gurdwara Amb Sahib

    Gurdwara Amb Sahib in Mohali has immense historical and cultural significance and is thus a must visit for tourists. As per legends, Bhai Kuram Ji of Kabul travelled to Amritsar to seek the blessings of the 5th Sikh Guru, Guru Arjan Dev Ji.

    While everyone else was paying gifts to Guru Sahib, he stood there empty-handed. Ashamed of this, Bhai Kuram Ji saved the amb (mango) given as Prasad and presented the same to Guru Sahib the next morning. Guru Arjan Dev Ji asked him to eat his Prasad and promised that his offering will be accepted one day.

    The 7th Sikh Guru, Guru Har Rai Ji, visited the site of this Gurdwara to fulfil the promise of his great grandfather, Guru Arjan Dev Ji. Through his might, Guru Sahib planted a tree full of ambs at this site and since then, the place came to be known as Gurdwara Amb Sahib.

    Mohali Cricket Stadium

    Mohali Cricket Stadium, formally known as the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, is acclaimed as one of the largest cricket stadiums in the country. Established in the year 1993, this swanky cricket stadium boasts of world-class facilities including a large cricket practice and tournament ground and a seating capacity of 45,000 viewers.

    Mohali Cricket Stadium is also counted amongst some of the best places for the training of state cricket players. The first real action witnessed by the stadium was a one-day international match played between India and South Africa during the Hero Cup, on 22nd November, 1993.

    In December 1994, the first test match was played at Mohali Cricket Stadium between India and West Indies. Today, the stadium is home to the IPL Team, Kings XI Punjab. Situated on the outskirts of Chandigarh, Mohali Cricket Stadium is definitely a must visit for travellers.

    Nabha Sahib

    Nabha Sahib is a revered Sikh shrine situated in the Mohali District on the Patiala-Zirakpur Highway. It is believed that after the execution of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, his mortal remains were picked up by Bhai Jaita from his cremation spot at the Anandpur Sahib.

    At the request of Faqir Dargahi Shah, a Muslim saint and a disciple of Guru Sahib, he kept the remains at the site of this Gurdwara. Adjoining the Gurdwara is the mazhar of the Muslim Faqir. Guru Gobind Singh Ji visited Nabha Sahib in 1688 after the battle of Bhangani to pay homage to his father, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.

    Banda Singh Bahadur also came to visit the shrine in 1709 to pay his respects to Guru Sahib and the Muslim Faqir. Dating back to 1695, this must visit Gurdwara in Mohali is thronged by several Sikh devotees every year.

    Gurdwara Puddha Sahib

    Gurdwara Puddha Sahib is one of the popular Sikh shrines located in the vicinity of Mohali. Also known as Gobindgarh Sahib, this beautiful Gurdwara is associated with the renowned saint, Peer Puddhu Shah, who was a follower of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

    His nephew, Baba Bhikam Singh, meditated at this site for around 200 years. After his death, Baba Ram Singh Ji constructed a huge shrine at this place along with a memorial for Baba Bhikam Singh.

    Gurdwara Nada Sahib

    Gurdwara Nada Sahib, situated on the banks of Ghaggar river in Panchkula, is a famous Sikh shrine at a distance of about 23 km from Mohali. It is believed that Guru Gobind Singh Ji rested at this site in 1688, on his way to Anandpur Sahib after the Battle of Bhangani. A villager named Nadu Shah Lubana dedicated himself to the service of Guru Sahib and his followers.

    Impressed with his devotion, Guru Gobind Singh Ji named the place after him. Later, Bhai Motha Singh discovered the site and raised a platform to commemorate the visit of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. In 1956, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee took control of the Gurdwara.

    Presently, the Gurdwara Nada Sahib complex comprises a two-storey domed structure, a large rectangular meeting hall, a spacious courtyard, a langar hall and rooms for pilgrims. This lovely Sikh shrine is a recommended spot for visitors in Mohali.

    Gurdwara Baoli Sahib

    Gurdwara Baoli Sahib is a famous shrine located on the Zirakpur-Kalka Highway in Mohali. There is a popular belief that a descendant of Baba Gurditta Ji meditated at this site for many years. Having heard of him, Guru Gobind Singh Ji halted here on his way to Anandpur Sahib after the Bhangani battle.

    The Sikh disciple requested Guru Sahib to restore the water supply of the region for the welfare of its villagers. Guru Gobind Singh Ji shot an arrow into the ground to fulfil his wish, at the point of which sprung a shallow well.

    Later, a shrine was erected at this sacred site and was named as Gurdwara Baoli Sahib. Pilgrims from across the country visit this place on the day of Amavas to take a dip in the holy water of the Baoli. Of immense religious significance to the Sikh community, this site is recommended to visitors.
