  • 03Anegudde Vinayaka Temple

It is suggested that tourists passing by Maravanthe should visit Anegudde Vinayaka Temple, which is situated at a distance of around 21.6 km from the town. Dedicated to Lord Ganesha, it is counted among the Sapthakshetra of Tulunaadu and is also named Mukti Sthala as it is believed that people can achieve salvation here.

Its name is derived from the union of the words ane, which means elephant, and guddi, which refers to hillocks. The statue of Lord Ganesha, which has four hands, is present in the main sanctum of the temple. Two of the hands symbolise 'Varda Hasta' (choice to grant boons) while the other two denote salvation by pointing towards the feet.

Festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi and Sankastha Chaturthi are organised at this temple and pilgrims also perform Tulabharam as a part of the ritual. In the month of December, Car Festival is also celebrated at the temple.

Mahalingeshwara Temple located at the proximity of Anegudde Vinayak Temple is another major tourist attraction.

It is said that the idol is of the two-armed Bala Ganesha who is standing and has his right hand inside the basement, whereas his left hand has a vessel full of modakas. Some believe that the statue is growing in proportions each year; this belief is solidified by the fact that it is already larger in size than its silver casting.
