Mararikulam is a beautiful village tucked away in the town of Alappuzha, known widely for its yellow sandy beach Marari. It is around 11 km away from Alappuzha.

It smells of history as the village folks are still very traditional and they practise a form of living which was prevalent hundred years ago. This village is famous for its coir making.

The church is dedicated to Blessed Virgin Mary and is located in the coastal town of Thumpoly. The other attractions of the place are the Shiva Temple, Kokkamanglam St Apostle Church, Aroor, Arthunkal, Poochchakkal, Panavally, Velorvattam and Arthunkal.

The Shiva temple is also known for its architecture. The other temple is the Cherthala Karthiyayani temple which has Devi Karthiyani as the presiding deity. Kanchikunglara temple, another famous temple, houses Goddess Bhagavathy. The nearby town of Poochchakkal also offers many temple attractions.

    It is connected by NH-47 which passes through SL Puram which is 5 km east of Mararikulam. From Kochi to Mararikulam it would be a 30 km ride . The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation runs several buses to and from the village.
