A small district in Uttar Pradesh, Mahoba is famous for its glorious history. Located in the Bundelkhand region, Mahoba shares close cultural roots with Khajuraho, known for its erotic caves and sculptures created during the Chandela rule. It was the capital of the Chandel Rajputs, who ruled the Bundelkhand region from the 10th to the 16th centuries. The word Mahoba is derived from ‘Mahotsav Nagar’ or the city of great festivals.
