Ladnun is a tourist city located in the Nagaur District of Rajasthan. This city was earlier known as Chanderi Nagari. It is also the birthplace of the highly revered personality Acharya Tulsi who founded Anuvrata and the Jain Vishva Bharati University. This renowned personality was praised as one of the 15 great persons of the world by former President Dr. Radhakrishnan in his famous book "Living with Purpose".

Ladnun In History

The history of Ladnun goes back to the days of ' Mahabharata', the great epic. The Shishupala Kingdom described in this great epic conquered Ladnun in the 12th century. Later on, the Ladnun region became a part of Jodhpur in the 16th century.

The Land Of Jain Temples

This spiritual city is especially famous for Jain religious centres. The Digambar Jain Bara Temple is the most popular shrine of this place. This temple is more than 100 years old. It is known for its 166 marble statues of the Jain Tirthankaras. Travellers can also see an art gallery, which has a rare collection of statues and ancient art forms along with Jain manuscripts.

The engraved pillars and the aesthetically designed doors add more charm to this ancient shrine. Tourists can also visit Shantinath Temple and Charbhujanath Temple while visiting Ladnun. The Jain Vishva Bharati University is a famous tourist attraction of Ladnun. It was founded by Acharya Tulsi in the year 1970.
