Kumarakom Weather

The best time to explore the region of Kumarakom is from September (soon after the monsoon) to March (before the beginning of summer). Sightseeing, houseboat cruising, backwater cruising, water sports and other outdoor activities can be conducted during this period. Monsoons should be preferable avoided since travelers cannot access backwaters.

Summer

Summers start in Kumarakom from the month of March and are continued till late May. The season is characterized by moderate heat. During summer days the temperatures are likely to go as high as 37°C. This is not a recommended season for visiting the place though travelers can enjoy sightseeing.

Monsoon

Monsoon showers hit Kumarakom from early June, and the region receives decent rainfall through out monsoon season. It is not an ideal time for those who want to enjoy the backwaters. Houseboat cruising is not permitted during this season though birdwatchers will find the monsoons an ideal time to spot birds.

Winter

Winter season start in Kumarakom as early as November and is extended till the last quarter of February. This is the perfect time to go for sightseeing and indulge in outdoor activities and backwater cruising. The weather is pleasantly mild during the winter season as the temperatures drop to 18°C.
