Kovalam Weather

The best tome to visit Kovalam is between October and February. In fact, these are the ideal months for taking a vacation to the beaches. During summer the afternoons can become very hot making it impossible to go sightseeing, and during monsoons the rains will cast a damper on your plans.

Summer

Kovalam experiences tropical climate due to its geographical location. Hence, there are no clearly defined seasons in this beach town. The average temperature during summer months is between 30°C and 37°C. However, the days can get even hotter. Humidity during the months of May-September is very high.

Monsoon

Monsoons in Kovalam begin around mid-June and last until mid-September. The town lies in the path of the southwest monsoon and experiences heavy torrential rains. The rains can put life out of complete gear in this beach town. Sometimes, the town also sees pre-monsoon showers in late April and early May.

Winter

Winters in Kovalam are not as harsh as they are in the other parts of the country. During the daytime one can avoid the use of heavy clothing especially if out in the sun. However, at night the temperature can come down to 18°C making it sensible to wear a light jacket.
