Kottarakkara Weather

The tropical climate of Kottarakkara enables travelers to visit the region almost all parts of the year. However, the months of heavy showers are best avoided. The best season to visit this town is soon after the monsoons (September) to the beginning of summer (March). The months of August and September is the Onam season in Kerala and is ideal for those who want to get a glimpse of festivities.

Summer

Summer season starts in Kottarakkara from the month of March and is continued till the latter part of May. The town has a tropical climate, and as a result summers are mostly humid and hot. April and May are the hottest months of the year, and the temperature during the period goes up as high as 35˚C. Those who plan to visit Kottarakkara during summers are advised to carry cotton outfits.

Monsoon

Kottarakkara receives excellent rainfall from Southwest Monsoon. The monsoon showers start from early June and extended for almost 4 months. During October the region receives some amount of rains from Northeast Monsoons. June and July receive heavy showers and this season is not recommended for sightseeing.

Winter

Winter chill hits Kottarakkara from the month of December and is prolonged throughout January and February. December is the coolest month of the year, and the temperature during this period drops to a minimum of 20˚C. Winter is mostly pleasant and is ideal for sightseeing. It is likely that the weather gets dry during the winter season.
