  • 02Dhuandhar Falls

    The Dhuadhar Falls is one of the important hotspots for tourists not only in Jabalpur but if the state of Madhya Pradesh. Cascading from a height of 10 metres, this is a magnificently beautiful waterfall originates from the river Narmada.

    This scenic fall makes its way through the famous marble rocks and plunges in a waterfall with a heavy gush, making a roaring sound, that can be heard from a considerable distance. This sudden fall creates mist or dhua and thus, the waterfall is named Dhuadhar.

  • 03Chausath Yogini Temple

    Chausath Yogini Temple in Jabalpur is yet another place that adds to the historic fervour of the city. Located near the famous Marble Rocks in Jabalpur, Chausath Yogini Temple houses idols of 64 attendants of Goddess Durga. The hallmark of the temple is the idol of Lord Shiva at the centre, which is surrounded by the idols of the female goddess.

    Built around 1000 AD by the Kalachuri dynasty, this temple was destroyed by the Mughals during their invasion. The remains of the idols are immaculately carved and showcase marvellous iconography in spite of being disfigured due to the invasion.

    An inscription commemorating the visit of Rani Durgavati can be seen at the sanatorium. There is also an underground tunnel connecting Chausath Yogini Temple and Gond queen Durgavati's palace. Chausath Yogini Temple, which is a huge complex and spells sheer splendour in every nook and corner of the structure, is highly recommended on a visit to Jabalpur.

    Hanuman Tal

    Hanuman Tal is a lake in Jabalpur that is located a few kilometres away from the city. Out of the 52 lakes, thirteen have already dried. Hanuman Tal or lake is well maintained and preserved by the government. The lakes are increasingly facing the onslaught of urbanisation and population influx, which is causing severe damage.

  • 05Madan Mahal Fort

    Madan Mahal Fort in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, stands as testimony to the lives of the rulers who ruled Jabalpur for a good number of years in the 11th century AD.     There is a legend that says that this temple was built by a poor woman after she heard the voice of a holy Jain monk. The monk's magical words gave her the inspiration to go ahead and built this massive structure.

    Dumna Nature Reserve

    Dumna Nature Reserve is located about 10 km from Jabalpur city. This natural reserve is a good call for nature and wildlife aficionados. Situated on the way to the Dumna Airport, this place covers an area of 1058 hectare of land. Variety of wild animals can be spotted if you take a stroll into the jungle. However, this needs prior permission of the forest officials.

    Birds of numerous species and animals like the deer, wild boars, jackals, chitals, porcupine and monkeys can be easily spotted in the forest. A great place for kids to hangout, Dumna Nature Reserve is also a favourite spot for family outings and picnic.

    To make this place even better, the Madhya Pradesh government has introduced trekking, fishing and camping in the forest. However, swimming in the Dumna Lake is strictly prohibited.
