1. Dibang Wildlife Sanctuary

The largest of them all, Dibang Wildlife Sanctuary was established in the year 1992 and is spread over an area of about 4150 sq km. The major reason why it is a perfect destination for a wildlife photographer lies in its diverse wildlife, as you get to witness several rare and endangered species of plants and animals, such as Mishmi takin, red goral, musk deer and red panda. As the region is rich in lush greenery and is blessed with a cool atmosphere, it is also favourable for campers. It is located in the Upper Dibang Valley district at a distance of about 10 km from the Indo-China border. You can also go trekking in the valleys covered with dense forests.

2. Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary

How about capturing Hoolock gibbons on your camera? If you are excited to do so, then Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary is your calling this season as you can spot several hoolock gibbons here, which are considered to be amongst the rare ape species in the world.

Established in 1980 and covering an area of about 282 sq km, this beautiful wildlife sanctuary is also characterised by beautiful rivers, echoing valleys, evergreen forests and trekking trails. Ever thought of camping by river beaches?

It is located in the Lower Dibang Valley district and is home to animals like Bengal tiger, cloud leopard and Asiatic wild dog. Hence, you need to be careful while choosing your camping site. It is advisable to take the help of locals or a guide once you reach Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary.

3. Pakke Tiger Reserve

Clear from its name, Pakke Tiger Reserve is a protected land for tigers and is one of the oldest sanctuaries in Arunachal Pradesh. It is located in the East Kemang district and is covered with broadleaf forests, seasonal waterfalls and perennial rivers.

Hence, it is also a perfect destination for picnic lovers. Apart from tigers, the major species of animals include Indian leopard, Asiatic jackal, capped langur and barking deer. If you are a tiger lover and always look forward to framing their beauty on your camera, then visit Pakke Tiger Reserve. Certainly, it is worth a visit, considering the fact that it is one of the few places in Northeast India where you can spot tigers easily.

4. Kamlang Wildlife Sanctuary

Unarguably, the most beautiful wildlife sanctuary, Kamlang Wildlife Sanctuary should not be missed by any traveller or tourist. Formed in the year 1974 and located in the Lohit district, it is home to several tourist spots, ranging from pilgrimage destinations to historical sites. Hence, it is a perfect spot for photographers.

On one hand you can capture the beauty of its rich wildlife and other natural spots and on the other hand, you can explore its historical sites. Glow Lake and Parshuram Kund are the most popular tourist spots here which are visited by thousands of locals and travellers every year.

5. Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary

Located in the vicinity of Ziro Valley, Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary is as good as its name sounds. From silver fir trees to pine forests and beautiful grasslands to relaxing streams, there is a lot to savour within its boundaries apart from capturing its beautiful wildlife. The major species of animals found here include cloud leopard, tiger, deer and wild dog.
