'Jyotirlinga Tourist Train-Swadesh Darshan', (the pilgrimage special) will enable Hindu adherents to visit various Lord Shiva temples (Jyotirlinga). Swadesh Darshan's tourist circuit will include religious destinations like Ujjain, Mahakaleshwar, Omkareshwar, Dwarka, Shirdi, Nageshwar, the Statue of Unity, Somnath, Shani-Singapur and Trimbakeshwar.
The much-awaited 'Swadesh Darshan' train was recently flagged off by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) from Kolkata Station.
Zafar Azam (IRCTC's Group General Manager, Eastern Zone), said "The duration of the journey is 12 days/11 nights. After departing Kolkata, the train will pick up passengers from Bhagalpur, Dumka, and Jamalpur. A total of 800 pilgrims will travel.''
This service under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme was introduced by the IRCTC recently. However, the train was prevalent earlier! The Railway Board decided to stop the package about a year ago. And apparently, over the coming few months, IRCTC is said to include long and short-haul tours under this package.
The 'Swadesh train' to the Southern states will be flagged off from Kolkata on January 4 and another will traverse to Bhutan and other Northeastern states on March 24.
Under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, tourists can visit Omkaresh, Mahakaleshwar, Somnath, Nageshwar, also, Dwarka and Shivrajpur beaches.
