By Air: You can take a flight to Coimbatore from Chennai and then from there take a bus or cab to Coonoor. Coimbatore airport is located at a distance of just 55 km from Coonoor and is its nearest airport.

By Rail: There are no direct trains from Chennai to Coonoor. However, you can catch a train from Chennai to Tiruppur and then from there a bus or cab to Coonoor.

By Road: Situated at an approximate distance of 545 km from Chennai, Coonoor is easily accessible by road from Chennai and other major cities. You can either take a cab from Chennai to Coonoor or catch a bus directly from Chennai to Coonoor.

If you are commuting on your own, you can take the following routes.

Route 1: Chennai - Chengalpattu - Villupuram - Yercaud - Coonoor

Route 2: Chennai - Kanchipuram - Dharmapuri - Salem - Coonoor

However, route 1 is fastest and hence, preferable. If you are looking to explore some new places and reach your destination within minimum time while on your way to Coonoor, then you must take route 1.
