East Khasi Hills Weather

Tourists can visit East Khasi Hills all throughout the year. While the winters are perfect for trekking and adventure, it gets biting cold. The summers are beautiful with greenery all around while the monsoons showcase the beauty of Nature. Tourists can thus visit East Khasi Hills anytime of the year.  

Summer

The summer months in almost all parts of the East Khasi Hills district are very pleasant. It is temperate and cool during the summers. The sun shines brightly on lands that haven’t been cursed by pollution yet. The lush green hills and the cascading waterfalls all brighten up during the summers here.  

Monsoon

Due to the south-west monsoon, all parts of the East Khasi Hills district receive heavy rainfall in between the months of May-September. In fact, Cherrapunjee, once considered as the wettest land on Earth, is situated within this district. While tourists can enjoy the rains during the monsoons, they are advised to carry light woollens.  

Winter

Winters are pleasant yet cold in the East Khasi Hills district. Temperatures drop down to about 1 degree Celsius during the month of January. Frost formation is common in the district during the months of December to February. It is essential to have ample woollens while travelling to Meghalaya during the winters.
