Kynance was built by Dr. N.R Dharam Vir of Lahore in 1933. Originally a residential building, it is now a prominent heritage site of Dalhousie. Renowned Indian freedom fighter, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, once vacationed here while recovering from some illness and stayed with the Dharamvirs, the owners of the building, for over 7 months.
The building is difficult to locate and most tourists fail to recognise its presence. Only those looking closely can find it. The easiest way to find the place is by looking for a small sign board with the name "Kynance" engraved on it hanging from a tree. This place is situated at a distance of 50 m from Gandhi Chowk and can be easily reached on foot.
