The best time to visit Bishnupur is right after the monsoons, mainly during the months of October to February. Since the winters set in by this time proper warm clothes are a must while travelling. If tourists stay till March, they can also witness the famed Yaoshang festival too.

Summer

The summers are hot and humid in Bishnupur. The highest recorded temperature is 34-35 degrees Celsius. It is not a very good time to visit Bishnupur. Moreover the main attraction, Keibul Lamjao National Park and Loktak Lake are not at its best during the summers and therefore should be avoided.

Monsoon

The average rainfall in Bishnupur ranges between 1200-1400 mm. The monsoons make the town as well as the district beautiful, washing away all the dust and bringing new life to the mountains, hills, rivers - everything. The floating marches of the Loktak Lake get a new lease of life too.

Winter

The winters are moderately cold, but necessary precautions are a must. The temperature can sometime drop to 0 degree Celsius too, though most often it lingers around 2 degrees Celsius. Travelling to Bishnupur during the winter months is a good idea as the road conditions remain good during this season.
