River Jia Bhoroli in Assam has been a favourite spot for angling and fishing right from when the British ruled the country. Ever since 1981, angling has been a popular sport in the Jia Bhoroli river, where competitions takes place every year especially during October and November.
Participants come from all over the world to participate in the angling competition. Jia Bhoroli river is particularly famous for golden mahseer fish.
Munnar, Kerala

Elephant Lake and the other streams of the beautiful hill station of Munnar are great places for fishing, particularly mahseer fish. The best time to fish in Munnar or any other part of Kerala is between the months of October to March.
Apart from mahseer, other kinds of fish you may find include pearl spot, pink mahseer, sardine, mackerel, etc.

Bheemeshwari Fishing Camp in Karnataka is fondly known as Angler's Paradise, since it is home to some of the finest mahseer fish. Bheemeshwari is settled on the beautiful river Kaveri, the waterbody that offers these fine fish.

Home to the two beautiful rivers of Kosi and Ramganga, Jim Corbett is another favoured destination in India for fishing and angling. A wide range of mahseer fish can be found in these rivers, such as golden mahseer, black mahseer and other fish like catfish, goonch, etc. A permit is required from the forest department to fish at Jim Corbett.
Apart from fishing, enjoy jungle safari through the Jim Corbett National Park and witness glorious animals like tigers, elephants, leopards, to name a few.
