The best time to visit is October-March when the rolling hill slopes are laden with greenery and mist fresh air soothes your senses to the extreme.

Located at a distance of 82 km from Siliguri, private vehicles are readily available through narrow roads that will take you to Samsing. The roads take you amidst picturesque forests, tea gardens and valleys and this is the preferred route for visitors throughout the year.

By air: The nearest airport is Bagdogra which is about 16 km from Siliguri. Flights to Kolkata and Delhi are available from here.

By rail: Jalpaiguri is the nearest station located at a distance of 83 km from Samsing. Trains are linked to the Malda-Kolkata-Patna route from here.

By road: Perhaps the most thrilling and the only available mode of transport to Samsing is via road. Cars and buses are available from Siliguri and it takes about 3 hours to reach Samsing.

A long drive through the best tea gardens of the Dooars, resting along the undulating countryside, will lead you to the small village of Samsing. This beautiful little hamlet is blessed with magnificent nature bounty; the natural forests, small streams and tea gardens sit together to form a majestic landscape. Samsing is at the foothills of the Himalayas and is a perfect location to see the majestic mountains rise from the green plains.

The River Murti opens itself from the rocky confinement of the mountains to be cherished as the most adored river of the Dooars. Sitting at the banks of Suntalekhola, you can hear the whispers of the flowing water in an eternal tune away from everything. The steep serpentine ways to Mouchuki and tree fern point is a paradise for trekkers and adventure enthusiasts.

Samsing is also the gateway to the Neora Valley national park and its nearby remote areas. It is not hard to sport your favourite wildlife nearby.

Samsing is one of India's most revered sites for exotic and colourful birds. What adds on to birdwatching is the ever silent atmosphere which has still preserved the greenery and the wild habitat. Located at a distance of 4 km from Samsing, Suntalekhola is also a popular destination to visit. It is cherished as an offbeat destination in the Himalayan foothills of the Dooars in the backdrop of shimmering blue and green sky with a crimson edge of sunshine that floats amidst the clouds.

Trekking from Samsing will take you to Suntalekhola where homestays are popular with decent facilities. Mountain streams that end into plains, rustling creeks alongside rivers and the hide and seek of the sun rays through the dense conifers is the perfect definition of this pristine place.

Suntalekhola lies of the southeast fringes of Neora Valley National Park. Tar roads leading to tea estate bungalows and the off trails that lead to tropical forests via the Rechila Top, Pankhasari and Alubari Ridge is somewhere where one would want to be lost.
