As one of the main administrative districts of Mizoram, Lawngtlai is an elusive haven of beautiful picturesque mountains, glittering riverines and verdant valleys. Located on the eastern perimeter of Bangladesh and on the western of the Saiha District, Lawngtlai sprawls over an area of about 2557.10 sq km. Home to the Chakma tribe and Lai community, the Lawngtlai district is a very fertile soil as the Ngenpui, Chawngte, Tuiphal, Chhimtuipui, Tuichong and Kaladan rivers flow through the district. How To Reach Lawngtlai
By Air: The Lengpui Airport makes for the nearest and most well-connected airport to reach the place. Located at a distance of 270 km from the place, it is well-connected to all the parts of the country.
By Rail: The Silchar Railway Station is the nearest railhead to reach Lawngtlai, located nearly at a distance of about 254 km from Lawngtlai.
By Road: The Lawngtlai Bus Stop is well connected to the near-by towns and cities with frequent bus services.
Best Time To Visit Lawngtlai
Lawngtlai has a pleasant climate all throughout the year, hence, making it a year-round destination. The winter months of December to February are more favourable than the summer months with an average temperature ranging from 15°C-20°C.
1. Chawngte

The sleepy little hamlet of Chawngte is snuggled on the banks of the Tuichawng river. With pristine rivulets cascading down the rugged slopes, the entire valley paints a dream-like picture of a picturesque little abode of tranquil vistas. Take a stroll or spend a languorous day amidst the hospitable and homely people. Taste the scrumptious local food and let loose in the mesmerising natural splendour.
2. Ngengpui Wildlife Sanctuary

Ngengpui Wildlife Sanctuary, sprawling over an area of 120 sq km is ensconced by lush green rainforests and an abundance of flora and fauna. Nestled quite close to the Indo-Bangladesh border, the sanctuary is a tourist hotspot with its rich heritage of biodiversity. Home to animals like tigers, elephants, Indian bison, barking deer, clouded leopard, wild leaf monkey and around 70 different species of Herpeto Fauna, the sanctuary is a rich reserve of exotic wild plants and animals.
3. Mullianpui

4. Sinemon Wildlife Sanctuary
Lawngtlai, being the rich reserve of rainforests and wildlife, is home to another sanctuary, the Sinemon Wildlife Sanctuary, which makes for a must-visit when in Lawngtlai. As one of the most distinguishable sanctuaries of the area, it houses some great variety of wildlife from tigers, elephants, barking deer, sambar, wild boar, and many more such animals at the sanctuary. Fanning out for over an area of 143 sq km, the sanctuary is also home to a diverse variety of avifauna.
