Dimapur the gateway to Nagaland was once a flourishing kingdom of the Kachari dynasty. The non-aryan people ruled this land for quite a long time and today Dimapur is filled with the ruins of their dynasty. Another tourist place in Dimapur is the Diezephe Craft Village, famous for its handicrafts and handloom items. It is popular for its wood carved objects and bamboo work. Green Park

Green Park

Another place to visit in Dimapur is the Green Park, which is a recreational spot here. With its beautiful natural surroundings, it is the perfect place to head to for a relaxing and rejuvenating evening. It is located within the premises of the Horticulture Nursery and is maintained by the state government. The park can be visited by tourists on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and on national holidays. There is a nominal entry fee.

Nagaland Science Centre

The Nagaland Science Centre is an initiative taken by the state government to make science interesting, playful and informal to children. It is broken up into various galleries with each gallery having its own theme. Another unique factor about this place is the Taramandal, a dome shaped building where videos based on science are showcased to the visitors. It is open everyday except on Mondays.

How to Reach Dimapur

By Air: Dimapur is the only city in Nagaland to have an airport and this makes it a very important city. Tourists can easily avail daily flights to Guwahati, Kolkata and Delhi.

By Train: Being the only city in Nagaland to have a railway station, Dimapur connects the state to the rest of India. There are direct trains to Guwahati, Kolkata, New Delhi and the other metropolitan cities.

By Road: There are two national highways that cross Dimapur. While NH-39 connects Kohima, Imphal and Dimapur to the rest of the country, NH-36 connects Nagaon in Assam with Dimapur. Regular state transport buses ply on these highways and tourists can reach Kohima, the state capital by road.
