Lakshadweep literally translated to "one hundred thousand islands". However, the group of islands in reality consists of 36 islands, out of which only 10 are inhabited. Some of these islands are in fact allowed only for foreigners.

These beautiful islands, surrounded by turquoise blue water and flanked by clear white sands, are located 300 km from Kerala. To travel to Lakshadweep, you can get a permit free of cost online which lasts for a period of 5 months.

They are of two kinds, temporary one that lasts for 15 days and regular one that lasts for 6 months. The temporary permit, perfect for those seeking a vacation, costs Rs 120 per head.
