One amongst the most popular places in the region yet known to only a handful of travellers, Aharbal is well known for its lush green meadows, which doubles up as grazing grounds of sheep in the hues of black, brown and white. This feature transforms the place into a wonderful, picturesque destination.

If this does not satisfy you, head to the grand Aharbal Waterfall, which would transport you to a bygone era. For the adventurous lot there are plenty of trekking trails, amongst which the route from Aharbal to Konsernag offers you a surreal experience.

Tulail Valley is truly a treat for photographers as well as trekking enthusiasts - an untouched valley which is the abode of lush green and brown fields alongside cumin and potato plantations.

One would come across a large variety of wildflowers across the mountains here which make their appearance in all shapes and sizes. The mountains here change colours according to how the sunlight falls on them and is a sight which simply is mesmerising.

A three-hour drive from Srinagar would take you to the breathtaking oval-shaped valley which is formed by forest areas, green meadows, paddy fields along with wooden houses with tinned roofs.

Apart from these, one would also come across various beautiful orchards of peach, apple, cherry and apricot. Like the icing on the cake, this place is away from the glare of tourists which gives you all the more freedom required to enjoy the sights.

Gurez Valley

Located deep in the snow-capped mountains is the valley of Gurez. With heavy snowfall the place remains cut off completely for about six months every year. The path leading to the Gurez Valley is broken and difficult to tread.

However, it is blessed with stunning scenery and the mighty Habba Khatoon peak which completes the picture. Special permission is required for one to trek to this valley which can be obtained from the police station at Bandipur.
