Coffee Moments- Chikkamagaluru- Karnataka
Karnataka, the birthplace of coffee in India, is the largest producer of the finest varieties of coffee in the country.
Panduranga coffee, Arabica Coffee (Arabica and Robusta are the main types preferred around the world), Vanilla coffee, Blended coffee, and Mysore coffee are cultivated in Karnataka.
Coffee was first grown here in the district of Chikkamagaluru, nestled in the Baba Budan Hills in the south-west. Later, the East India Company developed it into a viable plantation crop.
Characteristically mild and not too acidic, Indian coffee is preferred for its exotic, full-bodied taste with a fine fragrance. South Indian coffee is typically wet-processed and is smooth and sweet.
