The lifeline of India - Indian trains
In India, the train is the form of transport most widely used by all classes of people. The rail network, crisscrossing the length and breadth of the country, transports over 7 billion passengers and over 350 million tones of freight. It is, unarguably, the lifeline of India.
The train featured in the video is the Deccan Odyssey, a luxury train plying the Konkan route. It has been modeled on the Palace of Wheels of Rajasthan, the first luxury train in the country.
And for a tourist, theres nothing like a train journey in a second class compartment for an authentic taste of India. Mahatma Gandhi toured extensively in third class compartments to know the real India before taking up the leadership of the freedom struggle.
