Blue - India
Blue, denoting secularism, is the national sports colour. It is also the colour of Lord Krishna, one of the bestloved gods in the Hindu pantheon. The people of Jodhpur, in Rajasthan, paint their houses blue, proud to have their city known as the blue city of India. Though the tradition has its roots in the caste system the Brahmins, on top of the caste ladder, used to paint their houses blue today, blue is a part of the city personality.
In earlier times, blue was also supposed to be a colour of ill omen and sorrow. This rose from the inauspicious tag given to it by the higher castes who considered the fermentation process to make the colour indigo ritually impure.
