Archaeological Museum in Konark, Orissa

Established in the year 1968, the Archaeological Museum of Konark in the State of Orissa, India houses a large variety of antiques and fallen sculptures of the Sun Temple. The museum, which has four galleries, displays around 260 ancient objects obtained from the Sun Temple.

The decorated sculptures of Hindu gods and goddesses along with stone sculptures, depicting incarnations of Lord Vishnu and wedding scenes are the major attractions in the first gallery of this museum.

There are various cult objects and stone carvings in the second gallery, while the third gallery has something, which proves the craftsmanship that prevailed during the ancient times. The fourth gallery houses a varied collection of artifacts.

The museum which functions under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) also has a beautiful garden.
