Resting on the Vindhya Ranges in Madhya Pradesh, Mandu, known as the city of joy, was founded as a fortress and retreat by Raja Bhoj in 10 CE. Later it was conquered by the Muslim rulers of Delhi. Mandu is now one of the most evocative destinations known for its historic monuments.
