Up to the mid 19th century, Mumbai (Bombay), in Maharashtra — a north Indian state, was a walled city and the three walls had three gates. One of the gates was the Churchgate named after St. Thomas Cathedral, Mumbai, and is located near the Flora Fountain in the city.
