One of the Panch Prayag (five confluences) of Alaknanda River, Rudraprayag River flows through the district of Rudraprayag, a town and a municipality in the Indian state of Uttarakhand.

Rudraprayag is named after Rudra, a fierce aspect of Lord Shiva and there is also an ancient shrine here dedicated to Lord Shiva in the form of 'Rudra'. Rudraprayag is also known for its infamous man-eating leopard (Leopard of Rudraprayag) which is reputed to have killed over 125 people, and which was finally hunted by James Corbett, famous hunter and conservationist.
