Valsad is a coastal district and it derived its name from vad-saal that means hampered by banyan trees (vad). This area was full of banyan trees. Valsad is the first place where the Parsis entered before they found the Sanjan Port. Valsad is surrounded by the Arabian Sea, Navsari and Dang districts and the state of Maharashtra.

The temple is also famous for different kinds of Shivlingas. The Parnera Fort was made by Chatrapati Shivaji. The Parnera Hill is also famous as a fair is organised every October on this hill. Tithal Beach is famous for black sand. There is a historic prison in the police headquarters of Valsad.
