Crystal Gallery, Udaipur

Crystal Gallery is a part of the Fateh Prakash Palace that was opened for the general public in the year 1994. A marvellous collection of Osler's Crystals is put on display in this 129-year old gallery. Maharana Sajjan Singh had specially ordered them from England’s renowned crystal makers F and C Osler Company in 1877 A.D.

In the gallery, tourists can see beautiful crystal dresses, fountains, crockery, mirrored tabletops, sofa sets, jewelled carpets, beds, and throne like chairs. Apart from all this, perfume and honey bottles, candle stands, and coasters made of glass are also displayed here. In the Darbar Hall, there are portraits of the ex-kings of Udaipur, including Maharana Pratap, who fought against the great Mughal Emperor Akbar.

The gallery keeps on hosting royal weddings and parties. The Dilkhush Mahal or the Palace of Joy is located next to the crystal gallery and is known for its exquisite paintings and its mosaic of peacocks. The Moti Mahal or the Pearl Palace is decorated with the corking mirror work, which is beautiful to see.

The Chini Mahal located in proximity to the gallery displays ornamental tiles. In the Krishna Vilas, travellers can see a collection of small paintings depicting royal festivals and processions.

Pictures of the former Maharanas are also present in the villa. The Barri Mahal or the Garden Palace is also located close to the gallery. The place remains open to visitors daily from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
