The Deolo Hill is the highest point in Kalimpong and is covered by lush green gardens. Kalimpong Arts and Craft Centre

Kalimpong Arts and Craft Centre

The Kalimpong Arts and Crafts Centre displays few of the personal items of Rabindranath Tagore. It is believed that these items were left behind by the great personality on his visit to this place. The centre has two large memorials in honour of this great writer and is also a vocational training ground.

The Teesta Bazaar gets its name from the Teesta river which flows by here. The market place is filled with life, and has great food and loads of shopping venues. If that still does not bring a grin to your face, then you should also know that everything here is pocket friendly. You can also take some time out and go river rafting and enjoy the scenic views.

Roman Catholic Church

Roman Catholic Church

The Roman Catholic Church was constructed here during the colonial times. Visitors come here to marvel at the beautiful architecture with its various carvings. Do drop in here during the evening when the ambience is peaceful and calm with the only sound being of the church bell ringing.

Zang Dhok Palri Phodang

Zang Dhok Palri Phodang

Kalimpong has many Buddhist monasteries, of which Zang Dhok Palri Phodang is not to be missed. The two words that describe this monastery best are pristine and calm. Visitors are welcomed into the monastery with the sound of the hymns reverberating in their ears. There is a spiritual feeling that draws people here. Do spend some time with the Lamas who would only love to entertain you with their stories and folklore.

How to Reach Kalimpong

How to Reach Kalimpong

By Air: The closest airport to Kalimpong is Siliguri located at a distance of 66 km. Also the Kolkata international airport located at a distance of 619 km connects it with the major cities in the country.

By Train: The closest railway stations to Kalimpong are Siliguri (66 km) and Jalpaiguri (112 km). Both these railway stations connect Kalimpong to the rest of the country.

By Road: Kalimpong can be accessed via SH-31 from Siliguri and is around an hour and a half hour by road. Taxis can be hailed at Siliguri airport, or a car can be booked at the town to get to Kalimpong.
