Exploring Edakkal Caves
If you are in Wayanad, do not miss to visit the glorious Edakkal Caves. The history of this cave dates back to Neolithic Period. The magnificent cave has a lot of inscriptions engraved in the language Northern Brahmi, Sanskrit and Tamil Brahmi that speaks about the valor of VishnuVarrma of the Kutumbiya family. As you explore the caves, you will also spot the engravings of human-figures, weapons and wild animals which belong to different ages. As the cool breeze hits your face, the amazing algae covered rocks adds to the ambiance and takes you to a state of trance.You may have to walk about a km or two to reach to the entrance of the cave and there are stairs that lead to main cave on the top. You may feel it tiring initially but, the spectacular view from the top of the cave makes it worthwhile. Edakkal is just about 45 minutes ride from Kalpetta city.

Explore the speed-boating, try the swings that throw you into the air and climb the stairs to get a spectacular view of the entire place. Visiting this place during monsoon is a great experience; there is a small museum set-up that displays coins and stamps. This place is at a distance of 25 km from Kalpetta city and a ride through the beautiful scenery is what you will enjoy the most.
