Wash Off Your Sins At These 5 Sacred Rivers in India

Indians are known for their traditional values, culture, heritage and religions. Within their varied religions, they communicate with the Almighty in their ways, and perform the rituals that keep them close to God.

Washing off one's sins is considered as important as doing other religious rituals. There are several holy rivers and other places in India that are popular to wash off your sins. Let's know more about some of the rivers where you can take a dip and feel blessed!

1. Triveni Sangam

Triveni Sangam or Triveni Sangama is the confluence of the rivers. Of the several Triveni Sangams in India, the one in Bhagamandala is considered religious and is believed to wash off all your sins. This sangama (sangama in Sankrit means "confluence") is where two tributaries, Kannike and Sujyoti rivers meet river Cauvery. Bhagamandala is in Kodagu district of Karnataka.

2. River Ganga

The river Ganga or the Ganges is one of the most religious rivers where devotees take a dip to clean their karma. The Ganga is one of the largest river on the Indian subcontinent, which flows from Gangotri in the North till Bay of Bengal in the East. Some of the places that Ganga flows through are Kanpur, Varanasi, Allahabad and Patna.

3. River Kaveri

The river Kaveri or Cauvery is one of the most sacred rivers in India to wash off your accumulated sins. Originated from Talacauvery in Kodagu district of Karnataka, the river flows through places like Srirangapatna and Shivanasamudra, ended at Bay of Bengal.

4. River Godavari

From the Western Ghats, the river Godavari flows to the Eastern Ghats. Some of the places that the river flows through are Nashik, Nagpur, Aurangabad and Rajamundry. River Godavari is believed to be one of the seven most pious rivers in India.

5. River Yamuna

As per Hindu mythology, the river Yamuna is believed to be the consort of Lord Krshna. This sacred river flows from Champasar glacier in Uttarakhand and flows through several states inclusing Himachal Pradesh. Its largest tributary Chambal flows through Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

Hinduism believes that they can be relieved from rebirths if the sins are washed away. Take a dip in one of these sacred rivers to get rid of your past sins.
