Beautiful, pristine, clear, breathtaking, alluring, attractive, scenic - the words you can use to describe this charming lake is endless. This lovely lake that could have been named the 'Mirror Lake' is the Tso Moriri Lake in Ladakh.
Beauty can be enjoyed its best when the ambience is calm and quiet. Tso Moriri is located in the secluded Rupshu Valley in Ladakh, and is also called as Mountain Lake as it is guarded by lofty mountains and scenic views.
The lake is at an altitude of around 4500m, making it a unique attraction. The multicoloured shades of blue that the lake flaunts is one of the reasons to visit the place. Located around 250km from Leh, travellers come here to experience the immense beauty of the place.
Another reason why the place isn't crowded is that it is mostly cold here due to its high altitude, thus making it comfortable to visit only during summers. During summers, the snow on the mountain ranges that surround the lake starts melting, making the crystal clear water a marvellous sight. It is thus not advised to visit this place during peak winters.

Climate at Tso Moriri
The place has extreme climatic conditions from January to March. The lake remains frozen during this period, with almost no stay options nearby. From October the summer sets in and the snow starts melting, giving an altogether different beauty to the lake. The best time to visit the lake if from May to August, but comparatively the travellers are less here than the Pangong lake. This could probably be because of the lack of oxygen in the high altitude areas.
If one is not familiar with journeying to such high altitude ares, it may be difficult to survive at Tso Moriri. From September, the cool weather sets in, and you can find taht tourists build tents to stay here. Guest houses and other stay options are also available here with basic facilities. There places have to be booked well in advance as the choices to stay are less here, thus ensure that you get decent accommodation.
