The beautiful hill station of Kemmannugundi is located in Tarikere taluk of Chikmagalur District in Karnataka. The hill station is surrounded with towering hills, waterfalls, tea and coffee plantation, dense forests and lush grasslands. The hill station is located about 273 kms from Bangalore, which is about 5 hours drive on the Bangalore-Mangalore highway. The hill station provides a serene athmosphere for nature lovers, far away from the maddening city life. Below listed are some of the tourist attractions that travellers can visit for a memorable outdoor experience when visiting the hill station.

Hebbe Falls

Hebbe Falls is a 'must visit' tourist attraction for travellers visiting the place. With serene surroundings, it is an ideal spot for travellers who are looking for some quite time. Since the falls is situated in the forest area, special permission from the forest officials need to be taken since private vehicles cannot and are not permitted to go till the falls. Tourists need to go either by jeep or can trek down amidst coffee plantation till the falls which would be about 3-4 kms.

Kalahatti Falls

Kalahatti Falls should also be a part of your travel plans when visiting Kemmannugundi. The waterfall is located about 10 km from the hill station and offers travellers an excellent view of the water gushing from the hill. A Shiva temple called the Veerabhadreshwara Temple lies close to the falls.

Mullyanagiri

The Mullyanagiri range is located on the Western Ghats and is an ideal place for trekking enthusiasts. Tourists who love to drive on their own can drive till the submit as the road is in a good shape, except for a few stretches before reaching the summit.

Z Point

Z Point is recommended to tourists visiting Kemmannugundi. It provides stunning vistas of nature from the top of the summit. Shanthi Falls, which is located close to Z Point is also a popular attraction travellers should visit when visiting Kemmanagundi.

How to Reach Kemmannugundi

By Air: Mangalore International Airport is the nearest airport to Kemmannugundi, located about 190 km. Bangalore International Airport is situated at a distance of about 295 km and is ideal for travellers coming from other places in the country.

By Rail: Tarikere Railway Station is the nearest railhead to the hill station which is situated at a distance of about 15 km.

By Road: Buses to Kemmannugundi are available from Bangalore which is about 270 km from the hill station. Tourists can avail KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation) buses to reach the hill station from Bangalore. From Chikmagalur, Kemmannugundi is located at a distance of 61 km.
