Bangalore is not only known for its posh and fast-moving culture but also for its amazing temples, which are must visit destinations in the city. People here are ardent devotees of Lord Hanuman, and there are a lot of shrines dedicated to the Lord. One such temple is the Karanji Anjaneya temple in Basavanagudi.
The temple is at an approximate distance of 4.3 km from Bangalore city railway-station.

Descritpion of the temple

The idol of the Lord, which faces North, is approximately of 18 ft and considered to be one of the tallest ones in Bangalore. The Lord has the 'choodamani' in his hands depicting one of the scenes from the epic, Ramayana. The temple today stands on the Karanji lake that existed then, and hence the name Karanji Anajaneyaswamy temple.

The temple is located adjacent to the BMS College for Women and is spread across a huge land, there is ample space for parking. As you enter the temple, a tall flagpost dedicated to Lord Garuda welcomes you. The temple also has carvings that depict various incidents from Ramayana.

To the right of the main shrine of Lord Hanuman, is the temple dedicated to Lord Rama along with Goddess Seetha and his brother Lakshmana. Outside the temple, there is a huge peepul tree with a lot of statues dedicated to the serpent gods.

The temples premises also has shelters for the priests and falls under the Muzrai department and is well-maintained. The temple offers delicious prasada and many rituals are conducted here as the Lord here is said to be very powerful.

It is a pleasant place to visit and there are many attractions in and around this temple as the temple is located right in the heart of the city centre. When you visit this temple, you may also choose to visit the Bull temple, Dodd Ganapathi temple and the Bugle rock.

If you plan to visit the temple during evenings, you can savor a lot of street food in and around Basavangudi and Gandhi Bazaar, along with shopping.

Timings Of Karanji Anjaneya Temple

Morning: 7 AM to 12 PM
Evening: 4 PM to 8 PM

There are many buses from Majestic and KR Market to Basavanagudi, you may choose to get down at the Gandhi Bazaar Bus stand or Ganesh Bhavan and the temple is at a walkable distance from there.

Whether you are devotee of Lord Hanuman or not, this temple is one of the must visit destinations in Bangalore.
