Ramappa Temple is situated in Palampet Village around 67 km from the city of Warangal. By Bus: Visitors have to take buses to Warangal or Hanamakonda and then catch another bus to reach Ramappa Temple.
By Train: There are no railway stations near the temple; one has to get down at Warangal Railway Station or Hanamakonda Railway Station and then take a bus to reach the temple.
Significance of Ramappa Temple
Ramappa Temple, which is also famous as Ramalingeshwara Temple, belongs to the time of the Kakatiya Dynasty. It is said that the temple is named after its chief sculptor and the architect Ramappa. Since then it has become popular as Ramappa Temple.

Deity of Ramappa Temple
Lord Shiva, who is in the form of Ramalingeshwara or Ramalingeswara, is the main deity of Ramappa Temple. There is also a Nandi Statue facing the main shrine.
History of Ramappa Temple
It is said that it took 40 years to complete the construction of Ramappa Temple. An inscription in the temple indicates that it dates back to 1213 AD and it was commissioned by a general named Recherla Rudra who was working under King Ganapati Deva of the Kakatiya Dynasty.
The beautiful Ramappa Temple depicts the grandeur of those times through its exquisite architecture. Though some structures of the temple have been ruined due to natural calamities and lack of maintenance, majority of the structure remains intact. Now it has come under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
