By Manoj

Nagaur is a historic city located in the state of Rajasthan and is said to have been founded by the Naga Kshatriyas.

The city serves as the headquarters of the Nagaur District. It lies between the popular tourist destinations, Bikaner and Jodhpur. The history of this place can be traced back to the days of the great epic 'the Mahabharata'.

Though now it has lost much of it's former glory, the city even today attracts a large number of tourists who come here to relive its forgotten history. Here is a guide to this amazing town.

Nagaur Fort

Nagaur Fort is a prime tourist attraction located in the Nagaur city. It is a beautiful sandy fortress believed to have been built in the 2nd century.

This fort has witnessed plenty of battles during the bygone era. It is the best flat land fort in Rajasthan and is famous for its high walls and huge campus.

Tourists can see many palaces, fountains, temples and beautiful gardens inside the fort. The Nagavanshis constructed this fort and later on, it was renovated by Mohammed Bahlim.
