You might have heard about the name Tata-Birla! This is a very popular name or brand in our country. Other than it being a brand name of Tata-Birla group, it is the name of the two families who have prospered in a lot in the different fields.

These two families have grown into eminent business families from the time of post-independence. They are actively involved in welfare programmes, charity programmes, etc.

Birla family is originally from Rajasthan, and many members of this family have made tremendous contribution to the country. In the post-Mughal era, there were no prominent Hindu temples in Delhi or Kolkata. So, it was Birla family who built beautiful Hindu temples and brought a uniqueness to structures.

Likewise, many Birla Temples were built in many city centres. These shrines are constructed with a blend of old architectural styles with a modern outlook. No doubt, today Birla Temples are one of the major landmarks in several cities across India.

Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Delhi

Apart from it being one of the beautiful temples, the Lakshmi Narayan Temple was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi in Delhi. It was built by Baldeo Das Birla and Jugal Kishore Birla. Hence, it is also known as Birla Temple. The shrine is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Lakshmi. There are also other temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha and Hanuman. Today, Lakshmi Narayan Temple is one of the major landmarks in Delhi.

Birla Mandir , Hyderabad

Situated on a hilltop called Naubath Pahad, the Birla Mandir is one of the popular shrines in Hyderabad. The blend of Rajasthani, Dravidian and Utkala marble architecture houses Lord Venkateshwara as the prime god.

Birla Mandir Kolkata

The Birla Mandir is dedicated to Radha and Krishna in Kolkata. Though it was started in 1970, Birla Mandir was completed only in 1990. Birla Mandir is situated in Ashutosh Chaudhri Avenue in Kolkata.
