Kumbhalgarh Fort

Kumbhalgarh Fort

One of the places to visit in Kumbhalgarh is the Kumbhalgarh Fort, which was built by King Rana Kumbha in the 15th century. This fort has a total of 13 peaks, watchtowers and bastions. It is the second largest fortress in Rajasthan and attracts crowds in large numbers. Tourists can explore the fort and also enjoy the panoramic views of the region from here.

Neelkanth Mahadeo Temple

Neelkanth Mahadeo Temple

Located near the Kumbhalgarh Fort is the Neelkanth Mahadeo Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple has a 6 ft tall Shivlingam made out of a single block of stone. Devotees come to this old temple to pay respects to the lord. Tourists come here to marvel at the beauty of the architecture of the temple.

Ranakpur Jain Temple

Ranakpur Jain Temple

Another tourist place to visit in Kumbhalgarh is the Ranakpur Jain Temple which is located west to the Aravalli Range. The temple is dedicated to Lord Adinathji and is considered as one of the five important pilgrim sites of the Jains. Tourists coming here can view the architectural excellence of the artisans of that era. Devotees come here to offer worship to the lord and also to meditate in the silent surroundings.

Badal Mahal

Badal Mahal

A major tourist attraction in Kumbhalgarh is the Badal Mahal also known as ‘Palace of Clouds'. It is located on top of the Kumbhalgarh Fort and is a marvellous piece of architecture. Tourists can explore this palace and be amazed by the beauty of it. It also gives a scenic view of the surrounding regions.

Mammadev Temple

Mammadev Temple

Another place to visit in Kumbhalgarh is the Mammadev Temple, which was dedicated to Lord Kuber, the God of Wealth. Tourists can explore this temple and see inscriptions on the walls here. This temple is presently in ruins and therefore parts of the walls are missing here. You can stand and wonder as to how beautiful it looked during its day.

Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary

Another major tourist attraction in Kumbhalgarh is the Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary which is famous for its wolves and Chausinghas (four-horned antelopes). Wildlife enthusiasts come from far and wide to catch a glimpse of these creatures. Other wild animals that you can spot here include hyenas, jackals, leopards, sloth bears, jungle cats, Sambars, Nilgais, Chinkaras, and hares. You can set out on a safari in a jeep and see the wildlife at this place.

Vedi Temple

Vedi Temple

The Vedi Temple which is located close to the Kumbhalgarh Fort is a Jain temple constructed by Rana Kumbha to honour the sacrifices made by the pilgrims. Devotees come here to pay homage to the Jain Tirthankars and also to explore this old temple. Tourists coming here can marvel at the architecture of the temple and also get a close view of the Kumbhalgarh Fort from here.

Parshuram Temple

Parshuram Temple

Another tourist place to visit in Kumbhalgarh is the Parshuram Temple, which is located inside a cave that is believed to have been the meditating spot of the holy sage Parshuram. The unique feature about this cave is that tourists wanting to visit it have to descend 500 stairs from Kumbhalgarh Fort to reach this cave. This cave is considered holy by the Hindus and thus you might get to see them offering flowers and other items at the foot of the cave. There is a belief that this cave still holds a vibe of the sage Parshuram.

How to Reach Kumbhalgarh

By Air: The closest airport of Kumbhalgarh is the Maharana Pratap Airport or Dabok Airport, located in Udaipur at a distance of 116 km. This airport is connected to Delhi, Jaipur and Jodhpur by frequent flights.

By Train: The nearest railway station of Kumbhalgarh is situated at Phalna (52 km). This railway station is connected to Mumbai, Ajmer, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Jodhpur by frequent trains.

By Road: Travellers can reach Panna by buses. Government owned as well as private deluxe buses are available to Kumbhalgarh from the tourist destinations like Udaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur and Pushkar.
