The Parvati river enters the river Beas just above Bhuntar and its ethereally beautiful valley of Parvati stretches back up to the hot springs at Manikaran and beyond. The sprawling and picturesque meadows coupled with gorgeous landscape create an out of this world aura here. Parvati Valley is a paradise for many reasons!

The Parvati Valley had carved up quite a reputation for itself, as the "refuge of the hippies". A couple of villages along the river have been transformed into hippie/backpacker hang-outs, offering cheap accommodation, international food and non-stop music to crowds of dread locked and pierced travellers! This valley near Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh is notoriously famous for its wild and cultivated crops of charas, a pure form of cannabis!

The Parvaty valley trail ascends through thick pine forests to Khir Ganga, a meadow located at 2960 metre above sea level, where Lord Shiva is said to have meditated for 3000 years!
From Khir Ganga, the valley cuts a steep-sided gorge through the mountains and as the altitude increases, the thick, coniferous forest gradually makes way for patches of meadowland scattered with boulders.
