Mysterious Places in Delhi - Part 1

Flocks of tourists throng in to the capital city each year to visit the tourist spots in the city. Little would they know that the city has some scary stories to tell. Yes, apart from the famous tourist spots like the Red Fort, Qutub Minar and the India Gate, Delhi also has some places that send chills up your spines.

Whether you believe in evil spirits or not, these places are worth exploring during your next trip to Delhi. Let's look into a few such places where you could be haunted too!

Lothian Cemetery

The Lothian Cemetery or the Lothian Road Cemetery in the city is one of the mysterious places in Delhi. It is the oldest graveyard for Christians in the city. Among the evil spirits that are reported here, the headless ghost who walks with his head in his hand is the most popular one. This was also the burial ground of many who died during the Mutiny in 1857.

Delhi Cantt

The stories of a lady clad in white saree spotted in the areas around Delhi Cantt is not uncommon in Delhi. Many newspapers, blogs and other online media have reported the same. The lady is said to be walking with a candle, stop the motorists who pass by asking for a lift and then disappear into thin air!

The Tree near Dwarka Sector 9 Metro Station

The road near Dwarka Sector 9 metro station has a tree right in the centre of the road. The area is believed to be haunted. There are reports of people who experience a sudden slapping while they pass by the area and of a woman who appears and disappears and even travels at the speed of the vehicle! However, all these incidents started happening here after a school girl lost her life in an accident here in 2004.

House No W-3 in South Delhi

In Greater Kailash of South Delhi, there is an abandoned house that is reported to be haunted. The house that is located opposite to the police station is where an aged couple were found dead under mysterious circumstances. None have claimed possession of the house after the incident and strange sounds like sobs and screams have been reported from the locals there. People have even seen human shadows there!

Khooni Nadi in Rohini

The Khooni Nadi or the Bloody River that flows across Rohini is a mysterious place too. Those who have entered the river have never come back. ‘Something' is said to pull them into the river. The reason behind these unusual deaths in the river is still a mystery.
