Mumbai Monsoon Experience

The monsoons are a welcome treat to the people living in Mumbai after the fiery summer they have endured. The first spell of rain is like a blessing for the locals and they head out to enjoy the beautiful weather in various parts of Mumbai. If one walks down the streets during this time you will see people of all ages hanging around enjoying the cool breeze with hot cups of tea and snacks in hand. While the older people gossip about the good old days the younger ones can be seen cosying up with their loved ones. The entire face of the city changes with the onset of the monsoons. So lets head out to the places in Mumbai worth experiencing during the monsoons.

Bandra Bandstand

Bandra Bandstand

Bandra, where the who's who of the city lives, is a place one should head to experience the monsoons along with the hope of catching a glimpse of one's favorite celebrity. The revamped Bandstand Promenade extends for nearly a kilometer from the rocky outcrop where the Taj hotel is located. The Arabian sea blows in the cool breeze and one can enjoy the view in company of friends, family and loved ones. While you are here do check out the 'Walk of Stars' which features hand prints of Bollywood actors and actresses.

Gateway of India

Gateway of India

One of the heritage sites in Mumbai is the Gateway of India and it also is a place where one can experience the monsoon magic. Hang out here gazing into the open sea while enjoying some local snacks sold by the street vendors here. If you want to get a better view of it all then head to the Taj Palace hotel here and view the bay area while you enjoy some Lebanese dishes here.

Haji Ali Mosque

Haji Ali Mosque

This is completely an offbeat place to experience the monsoons, Haji Ali Mosque sits right in the ocean and is connected to the mainland by a narrow pathway. One should be careful before heading out here as it is not safe when a high tide hits here. During the low tide one can walk the length of the pathway with the cool ocean breeze blowing through your hair and the waves lapping at one's leg. The feeling is absolutely priceless.

Juhu Beach

Juhu Beach

Well words cannot explain the feeling here at Juhu Beach. The vast open ocean lies ahead of everyone and one is surrounded in a sea of crowd here enjoying the evenings. Small stalls selling snacks are set up across the beach where you can purchase a variety of snacks. Our pick for any evening here is a spicy hot plate of pav bhaji and a piping hot glass of tea.

Marine Drive

Marine Drive

Commonly referred to as the Queen's Necklace because of the sparkling lights that light up the coastline in the evening, Marine Drive is the lovers destination. One will find many couples hanging around here enjoying the view. It gets even better if there is a small spell of rain as it adds to the romantic feeling. Our suggestion is to visit this place with someone special for this is seriously not a place for singletons.

Worli Seaface

Worli Seaface

Much like the Marine Drive in the south of Mumbai, the Worli Seaface in central Mumbai is where one can experience the monsoons. Walk along the promenade enjoying the snacks or sit down and enjoy the view of the waves coming in.
