Kerala has many travel destinations that every traveller would crave for. Well, the God's Own Country, Kerala, is also known for its stories of ghosts and spirits, the legends that paved way to temples and much more.

Whether you're a believer in ghosts and spirits or not, it would be interesting to know about these places in Kerala that makes them known as haunted destinations in the state. Let's take a look at some of the most haunted places in Kerala.

Bonacaud

Bonacaud Bungalow in Thiruvananthapuram

Located around 50km from Thiruvananthapuram, you can find a mansion in the Bonacaud region amidst the lush greenery of Agasthya mountain ranges. This mansion is an architectural marvel which was built during the times of British rule. Known has GB 25, the mansion gets spooky when the eerie darkness sets in. It is said that a boy's spirit is seen at the door here and you can also hear whispers that sound like a boy's hushed voice.

Technopark campus at Karyavattom

A road near the Technopark at Karyavattom in Thoruvananthapuram is another spooky place that you would dread to visit at night. The legend says that a young beautiful girl Hymavathy had jumped and died in a pond there without fulfilling her wishes and desires. The spirit of Hymavathy still wanders through the road and people have reported hearing sobs of a woman as they pass by this region at night. The pond where she jumped and died is also close to this road.

Lakkidi Gateway

Lakkidi Gateway in Wayanad district is one of the haunted places in India. During the times of the British rule in India, an English engineer had sought help from a nomad Karinthandan who helped the engineer through the shortest route to Thamarassery. After crossing the route, the engineer killed the nomad so that this secret route is not shared with any other. Since then, Karinthandan's spirit is believed to have wandered in that region till a priest trapped the spirit on chains and tied it to a tree there. Even today, you can see the tree on which the chains are tied.

Forest at Thrissur

The lush green forests around Thrissur that is popular among trekkers and nature lovers, is a haunted place too! Many have experienced mysterious voices that sound like a little boy. Some have even reported to have seen the boy sitting among the woods. The boy is, however, harmless.
