1. Bharatpur
Located at a distance of 197 km from Delhi is a great weekend getaway called Bharatpur in Rajasthan. The beautiful city has many attractions such as the Keoladeo National Park and Bird Sanctuary. Visit the place to enjoy the sight of many beautiful migratory birds. The season too is just right for such a trip (November-January).

2. Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary
At a very short distance of just 50 km from Delhi is the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary. Situated close to the Sultanpur Lake, you can visit the sanctuary with friends and family for a quiet time enjoying nature. The birds that frequent the lake are both migratory and indigenous variety. Again the time is right for this trip as you can see many birds during the months October to March.

3. Lansdowne
Another great pick of lesser known weekend destinations around Delhi is the charming hill station of Lansdowne located in Uttarakhand. At a distance of 250 km from Delhi, you will need to prepare to leave early in the morning to explore the place through the day. As winter approaches the pleasing weather of the hill station will acquire a more harsh bite, so make sure to carry your sweaters and caps. But with the winter comes the true joy of seeing the natural beauty of this place.

4. Galta
A beautiful historic destination in Jaipur can also be a great option for a weekend getaway travel plan from Delhi. The town of Galta is located about 260 km from Delhi and 10 km from Jaipur. The place is a great pick for visiting during the winter months owing to the pleasant weather this time of the year. The place offers attractions such as the popular Galtaji Temple, natural springs and other beautiful monuments that will leave you amazed at their architecture and artistic renditions.

5. Dundlod
Another place in Rajasthan that also serves to be a lesser explored weekend getaway from Delhi is Dundlod, located at a distance of around 260 km. It is also best visited in the winter months. The place offers many attractions such as the Dundlod Fort, Bhagirath Mal Goenka Haveli and various beautiful Chhatris or Cenotaphs. The monuments boast of exquisite architecture and artistic mirror work that is sure to leave you stunned!
