Laxmi Vilas Palace in Vadodara was built by Gaekwad Family in 1890. Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III was a man with futuristic thoughts. The Laxmi Vilas Palace was one of the most luxurious palaces in those times.

Laxmi Vilas Palace is a huge castle built in Indo-Sarcenic Revival Architecture. It is a grand property of 700 acres which comprises of many buildings. This European structure also has exotic interiors which can give stiff competition to any other grand palaces in the world.
Interestingly, the castle also had elevators which was one of the modern technologies found in an Indian palace during those times. There was also a toy train which was used by the children of royal family. This toy train has also been displayed in the museum.
